2025 Boones Mill Kids Fishing Rodeo

Saturday, April 26, 2025, 9 am to 2 pm

FREE fishing for kids 15 years old and under; No fishing license required!

Maggodee Creek in Boones Mill will be stocked with over 1,000 trout. Prizes are for the biggest catches! Volunteers will be on hand to give fishing tips, and there will be free educational materials about fish, streams, and the environment.

 

Rules


1.      The rodeo will occur on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9 am to 2 pm along a specifically marked section of Maggodee Creek. A horn will sound at 9 am as the official start of the rodeo. The same horn will sound at 2 pm officially ending the rodeo. Registration will start at 8 am. 

 

2.      Parents/guardians must sign a general release of liability and hold harmless agreement before they and their kids can participate.

 

3.      Children must be always accompanied by an adult during the event.

 

4.      Wristbands will be issued to participants and their parents/guardians at the registration area and must be worn at all times during the event. People lacking a wristband will not be allowed to participate in the rodeo.

 

5.      Parents/guardians must certify they are adults over 21 years old and have a child or children 15 years old or younger who want to participate in the rodeo. Adults are not allowed to fish during the event.

 

6.      Only one fishing rod per participant is permitted. Legal baits and/or lures are ok to use. Donated rods are available for loan, first come, first serve, if needed.

 

7.      Participants are limited to four (4) fish of any size.

 

8.      Trophies and awards will be announced at 2:15 pm at the registration area located at Carter Park (adjacent to Carter Bank and Trust). The weighing station will be there as well. Trophies will be awarded to the biggest fish by weight, and for second and third, a tie in weight will be determined by the longest fish.

 

9.      Fishing laws will be enforced by the on-site game warden during and after the event.

 

10.   Fishing after the contest will be open to the public.

Registration, Sponsorship, and Donations

 

Registration will be in Carter Park, adjacent to Carter Bank and Trust. Registration starts at 8 am.

 

Sponsorships welcome!

 

Donations of $100 or more will get a marketing sign which will be on prominent display during the event. Donations above $500 will get a large marketing banner.
